Copper Care Guide

How to Clean and Maintain Your Copper Drinkware

Copper is a natural material that reacts with air, moisture, and minerals in water. Because of this, copper vessels may gradually develop a darker patina or spots over time. This is completely normal and simply indicates that the copper is pure and uncoated.

With proper care and cleaning, your Copper Life drinkware will maintain its beauty and functionality for many years.

How to Clean Copper Drinkware
Natural Lemon & Salt Method (Recommended)

This is the easiest and most traditional way to clean copper.

  1. Cut a lemon in half.

  2. Sprinkle a small amount of salt on the lemon.

  3. Gently rub the surface of the copper vessel.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  5. Dry immediately using a soft cloth.

This method helps remove tarnish and restore the natural shine of copper.

Alternative Cleaning Method

You can also use a simple mixture of:

• Lemon juice and salt
or
• Vinegar and salt

Apply the mixture gently on the surface of the copper vessel, rinse well with water, and dry immediately with a soft cloth.

Important Care Instructions

To maintain your copper drinkware in the best condition:

• Always hand wash only
• Dry immediately after washing
• Do not use dishwashers
• Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers
• Do not store acidic liquids such as citrus juice, vinegar, or soda

Copper vessels are best used for storing drinking water.

Why Copper Changes Color

Pure copper naturally reacts with oxygen in the air and minerals in water. This process is called oxidation and may cause the surface to darken or develop spots.

This is not rust and does not affect the safety or quality of the copper vessel. Regular cleaning will restore the natural shine.

Recommended Use

For traditional use:

• Fill the copper vessel with drinking water
• Store water for 6–8 hours or overnight
• Drink the stored water the next morning or throughout the day

This practice has been followed in traditional wellness cultures for centuries.

Quality & Safety

Copper Life products are made using high-quality uncoated copper and are laboratory tested for Lead (Pb) and Cadmium (Cd) leaching to ensure safety for drinking water use.
